When I'm not shooting weddings and engagements, designing wedding albums, editing wedding photos, I shoot quite a bit of commercial work. One of my commercial clients is airdrielife magazine. Here is a little peak at some of the images I created for the most recent issue:

Airdrie's Amazing Couture Gown Studio

A couple of months back now, I photographed Tracy Ward-Kerr from Couture Gown Studio. She is an amazing artist who creates custom gowns for stylish brides. I must admit, I fell in love with the gown she had on the manequin in her studio, and was joking in my head about why I should buy it...LOL! (yes, I'm already married, and don't need a wedding dress, but it was sooo pretty!)

I'm usually a clean shooter/image processor, but I thought it would be fun to put a bit of an antique tone on these images:

I was hoping one of these images was going to be the next cover of AirdrieLIFE magazine, but since they changed their mind on the cover story, I can share them! It was fun having Rob Anderson, MLA of Airdrie-Chestermere in the studio for a quick shoot.

Perks of the Job

I do quite a bit of work for AirdrieLIFE magazine and this morning I had a particularly scrumptious assignment! I was photographing The Avenue Cakery and Bakeshop and all of the wonderful things that Debi makes there. Lucky for me, Debi sent me home with a few treats too!! You Can Get Everything For Your Wedding in Airdrie

Yesterday and today I've had my tiny studio packed with bridal gowns, bridesmaid gowns, jewelry, antique furniture, models, a hair stylist, a publisher, and a couture designer. So much fun!! This whole shoot is for a WeddingLIFE section in AirdrieLIFE magazine with the theme that you can get everything you need for your wedding right here in Airdrie.

Airdrie Festival of Lights

I've been shooting the Airdrie Festival of Lights for quite a few years now, and I must say, that this past Saturday was so wonderful for weather. The first year I shot this event, it was -30 and I wasn't sure that my fingers were still attached to my hands!! This year it was above zero and beautiful.

I think because of the nice weather, more people than usual came out for opening night on Saturday. The crowds were pretty dense and it was great to see everyone having fun and enjoying the season.

I was excited to see my favorite shot from last year used on the booklet cover for this year's events:

There were crafts, cookie decorating, and mini-donuts in the kids activity tent:

Clever the camel....this is one tough camel. Even a few years ago when it was -30 for opening night, Clever was still going strong for the kids!!

Product Shots

Well, wedding season is over and the snow has come!! It's always a strange feeling to go from being so incredibly busy to totally caught up. As I refect back on this last wedding season, I can't help but think it was the best one ever, with the best clients. Thank you so much to all of my 2008 wedding clients who chose me to capture your special day!!

I've moved on to some other projects for winter. Yesterday I was shooting product shots for Pharmasave's next ad campaign. I also did some product shots for the last AirdrieLIFE magazine. Here are a few of my favorite products put together from the two shoots. Can you believe that you can get all of these awesome products in Airdrie?? It's almost time for Christmas shopping and I'm excited to see what other gems I can find!!

Taking the Strobes Outside

I finally got a battery pack inverter to take my strobes outside!! Woohoo. The pack makes outdoor commercial shoots so much easier because I don't need to run extension chords and the power of the lights fill in the shadows so much better than on-camera flash. Here one shot I did yesterday for the City of Airdrie.

Airdrie Pro Rodeo- July 1st

On Tuesday, Barrett and I had a very busy day shooting for AirdrieLIFE magazine- http://www.airdrielife.com. We started out shooting float judging, then the Airdrie Canada Day parade, then a few other Canada Day BBQ's, and then off to the Pro Rodeo! It was long and exhausting, but also so much fun. Some of these shots are Barrett's, but since we switched back and forth between cameras, we're not even sure whose are whose anymore! Anyway, here are a few highlights from a TON of images taken.

Singing In The Rain

Well, I was expecting to be super busy today but the weather certainly changed that! I had 4 engagement shoots booked for the weekend so I thought today would be filled with editing, editing, editing. Since it was so rainy, we rescheduled all 4 of the shoots. So instead of sharing e-shoot images today (which I have nothing new to share), I thought I'd share one of my favorite images from AirdrieLIFE magazine. This image of Rob, the president of the Airdrie Rodeo Association, was printed as a 2 page spread. I shot this segment back in April at the Lazy Half Moon Ranch. What great people to work with! They were super accomodating and willing to try any of my suggestons. When I pulled up, they were already tacking the horses and almost ready to ride. It was a fun shoot and so great to get out in the country for a bit.

AirdrieLIFE Summer Issue Is On Stands!!!

Musician Photo Shoot and a Gnome Man

I'm not entirely sure why I've been getting approached so often during photoshoots, but it's certainly entertaining! Last Saturday I was shooting my brother-in-law for his new album "Kiss the Son". We were on the edge of town in Carstairs, with the railroad tracks in the background and a bit of a rock n' roll in the country theme happening, when a man came up to us with a ceramic gnome in his arms. He asked if he could take some shots of his gnome with Tim. Weird!! Tim agreed and posed with the gnome for the man. I just kept on shooting. Tim couldn't stop laughing. I can't say that's ever happening to me before!!
I've been atempting to be a designer lately...although my design knowledge is quite limited. Here are some layouts that I've been working on for the CD cover, back cover, and the songbook cover and back cover.These are still a work in progress, but are coming together.
