Shantel & Mike's E-Shoot

Shantel and Mike had a bit of a different idea for their engagement shoot. They wanted to use their dogs for the front of their invitations, so we brought them into the studio!! LOL- at first it was a bit of a gong show to get them to settle down and to get the bride and groom costumes on, but once they had a few treats and were used to their surroundings, they were surprisingly great models!!

Rene & Andrea E-Shoot

On the weekend I shot Andrea and Rene's engagement shoot. They came prepared for the snow with boots on, which I was excited about because that meant I could make them run around in the snow :) McDougall Centre is anther very busy photography location. While we were there, there were 2 different wedding parties also having their photo sessions. I think we had more fun......the brides watched as Andrea & Rene threw snowballs at each other and tried to wrestle each other to the ground. A good time was had by all.

Jena & Josh's E-shoot

So somedays I have a little more ambition than brains...LOL...I really wanted to take Jena and Josh into the country in the snow for their engagement shoot, but I kind of forgot that the pullout at my favorite spot would be full of snow. Yes, I got my car good and stuck. THANK YOU to Josh for getting me out!! It was all worth it. You guys were so much fun!!

Wendy & Rory Wedding

Wendy and Rory picked February 10th as their wedding day because it was the Saturday just before Valentine's Day. The weather up until Saturday was absolutely awful...very cold, and constant snow, but somehow we lucked out and got a -8 degree day and no blizzard! Tons of snow in the trees, a beautiful day, and a couple in love...what could be better for Valentines? All that I can think of is somewhere warm :)

Wendy and Rory were another brave couple that I convinced to go out in the snow. Who can tell that Wendy has knee high snow boots under her dress!! The spagetti strap high heels just weren't going to cut it.

Alberta Ballet is one of my favorite spots to shoot...and also a busy spot. While waiting for the limo to show up there, I got to chat it up with a photographer from Bliss waiting for an engagement shoot couple.

Cara & Chris- Winter Wonderland Wedding

Such a brave couple!! I was pumped that they were willing to let me take them out into the snow. It had snowed all morning, and the day before with that soft, fluffy, almost magical snow.

Off with the wedding shoes, and on with the boots!! This shoot had to be done in 10 minute increments.....10 minutes outside, 10 minutes to warm up inside, 10 minutes outside, and so on! It was the only way to avoid hypothermia on a -12 winter day.

We'd been out in the cold quite a while when this shot was taken and we were definitely ready to go in and sit by the fire for a bit!! Right after this shot, the winds picked up and we took off running towards the Ranche.

A Year in Review- 2006

2006 was a great year of weddings. I had many fantastic clients, and was busier than ever before!! I thought I'd go through my 2006 weddings and post some of my favorite shots that have never been posted before and some memorable moments. More will be posted in the days to come, but hear are a few from a chilly November wedding.

When I first met with Kelly & Trina, I immediately recognized Kelly from somewhere and I had to take a moment to remember from where. It quickly dawned on me that Kelly was an art student at ACAD when I was there, and he graduated from graphic design the same year that I graduated from photography. What a small world!! The two of them met at an audition for a play, and I could definitely recognize their acting abilities in our photoshoot. So dramatic, and so fun! Their wedding had a 1940's theme, which I had never seen before, and was very refreshing....take a look at Trina's fantastic vintage veil.
